Abbreviations: Ch = chain, Dc = double crochet, FO = fasten off, Jn = join, Puffst = puff stitch, Sc = single crochet, St = stitch, Vst = Vee stitch, Yo = yarn over.
Note:
Puffst - yo put hook into indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops; yo, put hook into same stitch pull up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops; yo, put hook into same stitch pull up a loop, yo pull through all 4 loops.

Sew up sides of purse using a blanket stitch and yarn needle with (A), then Pin pocket sides and bottom to back half of purse with tulips facing up, match bottom back half with bottom of pocket and leave top of pocket open to just below leaves on back of purse and sew pocket to purse.
Crochet Strap:  Holding the purse  so one of the side seams faces you, join (C) in the third stitch to the right of the seam, Ch 1
Row 1: Sc in same st, sc in next 5 stitches, turn (6 sc) should be 3 sc on each side of seam.
Row 2: Ch1, Hdc in same st, hdc in next 5 sc, turn (6 hdc)
Row 3 through 75: Ch1, Hdc in same st, hdc in next 5 hdc, turn (6 hdc) FO and leave a 10" tail.
Finish Strap: Being careful not to twist, on the opposite side of purse - lay the other top side seam of the purse and the last row of the strap together facing up, edge to edge and front to front, sew together using a blanket st and a yarn needle so that strap is centered over seam, FO and weave in ends. Fold main part of strap together and pin, Whip st the strap together with (A) and yarn needle starting first st above purse edge and ending just above other side above purse edge to form a tube, FO weave in ends. Trim any loose ravels and felt.
Felting:

Felt the purse twice. Put a small hard piece of plastic the size you want the finished pocket to be inside the pocket area of the purse to help separate that area, you can also put a piece in the purse area. Then put the purse in a pillow case and tie closed with a piece of yarn. Place pillow case, tennis balls or other articles and detergent into washer. Wash on hot for a regular load until just before spin cycle (Do not use softener, it will stop the felting process) this usually takes me 15 minutes. Remove the purse from case, stretch to check for size after each washing and smooth and shape straps.  When you are satisfied with the size rinse with cool water and lay it flat on a towel to dry, or hang it from a door knob, leave it there 1 to 2 days to dry in a dry warm spot. Don’t use the dryer during felting, it will mess it up.
