Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. Chain Hat and Scarf


Christmas Chains Scarf and Hat

Materials:
Any Worsted Weight #4 Yarn, I used Red Heart Super Saver in White
Crochet Hook size L/11, 8mm
Yarn Needle
Sharpie Fabric Markers, Stained Green and Red (optional)
Abbreviations:  Ch = chain, Jwslst = join with slip stitch, Sc = single crochet, Skip = skip, Sc2tgr = single crochet two together, Rnd = round, FO = fasten off, Win = Weave in ends.
Sizes: Scarf is 62 “ long and 5” wide and Hat is 20” in circumference and 7” high (hat has a lot of give and will stretch to fit head up to 23” circ. and 9 inches high)

Scarf Instructions: Work in rows.
Ch 162
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn (161 sc)
Row 2: Sc in same sc, *Ch 5, sk 4 sc, sc in next sc, Repeat from * all the way across, ch 1, turn (32 chain spaces + 33 sc)
Row 3 through Row 14: Repeat Row 2
Row 15: Sc in each sc and each ch across row, FO, Win
Place a piece of cardboard under the ends of the scarf and paint with Sharpie Fabric Pens. Be careful to cover the ch stitches on the bottom of each end of the scarf completely and on the same side on each end. Raise the stitches by Inserting a plastic ruler under the ch stitches to help with paining. See diagram. You can paint any design you want in any color you want. Let dry a few hours.


Hat Instructions: Work in rows on the first 9 and in rounds thereafter.
Ch 52
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn (51 sc)
Row 2: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (51 sc)
Row 3 through Row 8: Sc in same sc, *Ch 5, sk 4 sc, sc in next sc, Repeat from * all the way across, ch 1, turn (10 chain spaces + 11 sc)
Row 9: Sc in first sc, *3 sc in next ch space, sc in next sc, 4 sc in next ch space, Repeat from * across,  ch 1, Do Not Turn (46 sc)
Fold piece together matching ends of rows (work around corner) Slst across ends 1 slst loosely, in every sc at the end of rows, FO, Win (this forms the hat band)
Rnd 10: Working in rounds from inside of hat.  Join yarn in any sc on row 9.Sc in each sc around, jwslst, ch 1 (45 sc)
Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around, jwslst, ch 1 (45 sc)
Rnd 12: Sc in same sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc (decrease made), sc in next 19 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (41 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in same sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 7 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (36 sc)
Rnd 14: Sc in first 2 sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 6 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (32 sc)
Rnd 15: Sc in first 2 sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (27 sc)
Rnd 16: Sc in first 2 sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (23 sc)
Rnd 17: Sc in first 2 sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (18 sc)
Rnd 18: Sc in first 2 sc, *sc2tgr in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst, ch 1 (14 sc)
