NOTES OF INTEREST:

Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. As usual, if you have questions about crafting or crochet, I will answer them under the post where you leave the comment. Thanks for stopping by. Birdie

 http://dishclothdiaries.blogspot.com/2008/12/one-skein-basic-filet-shawl-finished.html
Changes and additions by Berta Gilholm
I'm a size adult 12 -14, but you can stop or add rows any where you reach the width and length required befoe you crochet the border area.
Materials:
Caron Simply Soft 100% Acrylic, medium worsted weight yarn, color #9811 Embroidery
Crochet Hook size US I/9 – 5.5mm
Yarn Needle

Abbreviations: Ch = Chain, Sc = Single Crochet, Dc = Double Crochet, Sp = Space, Jwslst = Join with slip stitch, FO = Fasten Off.

Instructions: Worked in rows from the tip at the bottom up to shoulder area. Ch 3 at beginning  always counts as “dc, ch 1”.
Make a magic ring,
Row 1: Ch 3, *“dc, ch 1 in ring”, Repeat from * 1 more time, dc in ring, tighten magic ring and weave in, turn (4 dc + 3 ch 1 sp)
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st (increase made), *ch 1, dc in next dc, Repeat from * 1 more time, ch 1, 2 dc in last dc, turn (6 dc + 5 ch 1 sp)
Row 3 through Row 65: Repeat the Row 2 pattern adding 2 increases on each row, 1 at each end.

Last Row and Border:
Work around the corner, Do not turn, “Ch 3, dc, ch 1, dc” in the corner,
Going down side 1:
Ch 1, 1 dc in bottom of same corner sp,
Ch 1, 1 dc in the end st of next row,
Ch 1, 2 dc in the end st of next row,
Ch 1, 1 dc in the end st of next row,
Ch 1, 2 dc in the end st of next row,
Repeat this pattern all the way down the side, so you have 3 dc, ch 1 in each 2 end rows. You will have a total of 98 dc + 97 ch sp down the side.
Going up side 2:
Repeat from “Work around corner through down side 1” going up for second side.
Across Top:
Repeat “Work around corner”, ch 1, dc in each dc across up to first ch 3 in corner, jwslst to top of corner ch 3, FO, Weave in ends.
