NOTES OF INTEREST:

Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. As usual, if you have questions about crafting or crochet, I will answer them under the post where you leave the comment. Thanks for stopping by. Birdie

Part 1 “Felting”: Felt the hat twice. Put the hat in a pillow case and tie closed with a piece of yarn. Place pillow case, tennis balls or other articles and detergent into washer. Wash on hot for a regular load until just before spin cycle (Do not use softener, it will stop the felting process) this usually takes me 15 minutes. Remove piece from case, stretch the hat over your head (for pre-stretch) then stretch over a large coffee can or something similar, try it on your head again. When you are satisfied with the fit (not too snug)  stretch over the coffee can again and leave it there 2 days to dry in a dry warm spot. Don’t use the dryer, it will mess it up. Once dry go to part 2 of hat.

Part 2, Bottom of Hat: Use 2 strands of Loam Boucle held together throughout. I pull one end from the center and one end from the outside of the skein to use together.
With 2 strands of  Boucle in Loam and Crochet Hook size US J/10 – 6mm
Ch 59,
Round 1: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across, making sure you don’t twist rows, join ends of sc and ch rows together with 2 slst’s to create circle,
Round 2: Ch 1, Sc in each sc around, jwslst (59 sc)
Round 3: Ch 3, *Sc in next sc, dc in next sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst (29 sc + 30 dc)
Round 4: Ch 1, *Dc in next sc, sc in next dc, Repeat from * around, jwslst
Round 5: Ch 3, *Sc in next dc, dc in next sc, Repeat from * around, jwslst
Round 6: Ch 1, *Dc in next sc, sc in next dc, Repeat from * around, jwslst
Round 7: Ch 1, Sc in each sc around, jwslst (59 sc) FO weave in ends and trim.
Finishing:  Sew the last round of Part 1 and the first round of Part 2 together with the sewing needle and thread.               Side view picture:
