NOTES OF INTEREST:

Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. As usual, if you have questions about crafting or crochet, I will answer them under the post where you leave the comment. Thanks for stopping by. Birdie

Dust Buster for a Handle

Here's one of those quickie gifts to make, strange looking and something everyone needs. Make a bunch in Christmas colors and watch the smiles.

Dust Buster for Mop or Broom Handle
By Berta Gilholm

Materials: Worsted Weight Leftovers #4

Eyelash, Pom Pom or Fun Fur Yarn Leftovers
Crochet Hook (5.5mm, US I or 9)
Gauge with size I hook: 10 sc = 3’’,  9 sc rows = 3’’
Approximately 10 inches tall
Note: I made 2 different designs “Tube & Side-to-side”, both fit well on handles, the Side to side works up quicker.  I used pink & turquoise (ww) with lime eyelash/pom for the tube and navy (ww) with lavender eyelash on the side to side.
Tube:  With Turquoise, Ch 12
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to first ch with a slst,  (12 sc)
Row 2: Work in back loops, Ch 1, Sc in each sc around, join to first sc with a slst (12 sc)
Rows 3 - 9:  Repeat Row 2 (7 times) Fasten off Turquoise, Join Pink
Row 10 - 24: Repeat row 2 (15 times) Fasten off Pink
Row 25: Join Eyelash/pom in last st worked and ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 11, sc in same sc, ch 11, sc in next sc, repeat from * 11 times for 12 ch loops, working in same row **ch 11, sc in same sc, ch 11, skip next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from ** 5 times,  (ch 2, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc 4 times – this slightly closes the end of the tube) Fasten off  leaving an 8 inch tail and with a yarn needle weave the tail in and out of last stitches, pull tight and knot off
Place on broom/mop handle to remove Cobwebs and dust from ceilings, doors, bookcase tops, etc. Shake and wash when dirty.
Side-to-side: With Navy Ch 45
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, Sc in each ch across, turn (44 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, Sc in each stitch across, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, Sc in first sc, sc in next sc, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * across, turn
Row 4: Ch 1, Sc in each sc and each ch across, turn (44 sc)
Row 5 - 6 & 7 - 8: Repeat row 3 and 4
Row 9: Repeat row 4 (44 sc)
Fasten off and leaving a tail 2 ½ times the length of the row width, whip stitch, row 9 and the first Chain row together. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Loop Row: Using 1 strand of navy and 1 strand of lavender eyelash held together join yarns in last st worked and ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 11, sc in same space, ch 11, sc in next space, repeat from * 9 times for 10 ch loops, working in same row **ch 11, sc in same space, ch 11, sc in next space, repeat from ** 6 times,  (ch 2, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc,  3 times – this slightly closes the end of the tube) Fasten off  leaving an 8 inch tail and with a yarn needle weave the tail in and out of last stitches, pull tight and knot off (you can do intermittent ch 2 sections around the broom handle cover, up and down the rows for more dusting area).
Place on broom/mop handle to remove Cobwebs and dust from ceilings, doors, bookcase tops, etc. Shake and wash when dirty.
