NOTES OF INTEREST:

Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. As usual, if you have questions about crafting or crochet, I will answer them under the post where you leave the comment. Thanks for stopping by. Birdie

Tiny Christmas Recycle

Holiday Instant Drink Cup Magnets
By Berta Gilholm

A while back someone wanted to know what to recycle the plastic cups from instant drinks into. This is a craft I created about 5 years ago for recreation children to make for their parents. Once you make one, you will come up with all sorts of ideas for others. You can leave the magnet off and hang these with a hook for a small Christmas ornament. Have the kids help make a bunch out of family holiday pictures and arrange them in a circle for a frigie wreath.

Note: “How to Basic Clean Plastic” - wipe down plastic with alcohol, rub with sandpaper to roughen up and rinse the dust off.
Materials: Old Christmas Cards, plastic instant drink cup #5 (can use small hard plastic cups of any sort that are approx. same size), small cotton balls, acrylic paint or permanent markers, white glue, scissors, glitter, old plastic lid, button magnet, small brush
Holiday Scene Refrigerator Magnet:
Basic Clean the plastic cup. Color the whole cup with permanent markers, I used royal blue. Cut very small pictures or parts of pictures (like Leaves) from old Christmas cards ( You can use any Holiday or event  cards you like).  Flatten out a cotton ball and spread out a little with fingers, spread glue on one side of the cotton and glue cotton to the inside bottom of the cup, trim the small pictures to fit inside the cup , glue pictures standing up in a 3D design in front of and inside of  the cotton. Put a few drops of water inside the plastic lid and dip the tip of a blue marker in it stirring until the water turns a very light blue, Take a paint brush and paint the blue water onto the cotton for accent (sky, clouds, etc.) you can change this color for different themes. Add a little glitter with drops of glue and let dry an hour. Glue a small round button magnet to back of cup (instead, you can use stick on magnetic self sticking business card backs (found in office supply stores).
Cherry-nosed Snowman Magnet:
Basic Clean 2 plastic cups. Color 1 of the cups with white acrylics inside and out, take 3 cotton balls, pull apart into smaller sections and glue to the bottom and insides of the cup until cup is full. Glue 2 small black beads for eyes onto cotton,  glue 1 medium red pointy bead for nose (I used chipped coral) and five small black beads arranged in a smile for mouth. Put a few drops of water inside the plastic lid and dip the tip of a red marker in it stirring until the water turns a very light pinky-red. Take a paint brush and paint the red water onto the cotton on each side of nose below eyes and toward cheeks for rouge. Take the other cup and color with a black marker inside and outside (this is the hat), glue hat,  top down above snowman’s eyes on the edge of the cup. Add a little strip of bumpy yarn or glitter with a small line of glue around the brim of the hat and let dry an hour. Glue a small round button magnet to back of cup (instead, you can use stick on magnetic self sticking business card backs (found in office supply stores).
