Just Crochet/Craft Idea's: It's been a very long time since I have posted anything to my Blog. Due to family and life in general, I got a little detoured. I will try to get time to type up some new entries. I have created a lot of items, gave them away and did not take pictures or type them up. We lost both of our boys this year. Jiggy in March and Stubby in July. We have a new friend her name is MayBee (due to the fact that we weren't quite sure about keeping her). She's 4 years old and full of energy. I make her Kitty Strings with yarn, it was such a hit, I donated some to the local animal shelter. I'll try to put them on the Blog next week. Burple Felted Scarf

Burple Felted Scarf (Another basic granny square project)

Materials: Lion Brand 100 % Wool, #4 worsted weight

(A) 1 skein Lion Wool - 3 oz./85g, 158 yd./144m, 147 Purple

(B) 1 skein Lion Wool Print – 2 ¼ oz./78g, 143 yd./131m, 204 Majestic Mountain

Crochet Hook:

I-9/5.5mm

Washing Machine, detergent, tennis balls, pillow case. Stitches: Ch = chain, Sc = single crochet,

Dc = double crochet, Sl st = slip stitch
Other Abbreviations: Rnd = Rnd, St = Stitch

Note: Chain 3 at beginning of each round counts as first dc. Weave in ends as you work.

Size: Scarf is approx. 5 ½ ” x 80” before felting and 4 ¼” x 75” after felting.

Pattern: Scarf Square: (Make 12) Working in rnds.

With (C) Ch 3, slst in 3rd ch from hook to make a ring, do not fasten off

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, *ch 3, 3 dcin ring, repeat from * 2 more times, ch 3, join with slst to top of beginning ch 3, fasten off (C)

Rnd 2: Join (B) in any ch 3 corner, Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in corner, *dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in next corner), repeat from * 2 more times, dc in next 3 dc, join with slst to top of ch 3, Slst in next dc,

Rnd 3: Ch 3 in corner, 1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in corner, *dc in next 7 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in corner), repeat from * 2 more times, Dc in next 7 dc, join with slst to top of ch 3, fasten off (B)

Rnd 4: Join (A) in ch 3 corner, Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in corner, *dc in next 11 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in corner), repeat from * 2 more times, dc in next 11 dc, join with slst to top of ch 3, fasten off (A)

Joining Rows: From this point on work in rows from right to left until piece is complete.

Row 1: Join (B) in ch 3 corner, Ch 3 (counts as first dc on first row), Dc in next 16 dc, turn

Row 2: Ch 3, (counts as dc), Dc in next 16 dc, Fasten off leaving a 10 inch tail for sewing.

Join squares by laying one square on top of the other, right side to right side and sew color (A) square edge to color (B) row edge together, trim or weave in excess tail (2 squares joined), following this instruction join the other 10 squares in same manner.

Border Row: Weaving in any extra ends as you work, join (B) in right corner of first square at the end of scarf, Ch 3,1 dc in each of next 15 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 3 corner), 1 dc in each of next 15 dc, 1 dc in ch 3 corner, *2 dc in each of the next 2 row-ends, 1 dc in ch 3 corner, 1 dc in each of next 15 dc, 1 dc in ch 3 corner, Repeat from* 10 times, (1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 3 corner), 1 dc in each of next 15 dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 3 corner) , *2 dc in each of the next 2 row-ends, 1 dc in ch 3 corner, 1 dc in each of next 15 dc, 1 dc in ch 3 corner, Repeat from* 11 times, (1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in ch 3 corner), *1 dc in each of next 15 dc, join with a slst to first dc, Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing: (I only felted once to reach scarf size) Scarf pinned to rug for drying:

Put the scarf in a pillow case and tie closed with a piece of yarn. Place pillow case, tennis balls or other articles and detergent into washer. Wash on hot for a small load until just before spin cycle. Remove piece from case, flatten and stretch out piece on a towel to check shrinkage. Re-felt if necessary. Stretch and lay flat and pin to non=traffic rug area or tack to a board and let dry for 24 hours in a dry warm spot. Shave lightly to remove fuzz and trim any loose ends.

Fringe: Cut 60 - 10 inch pieces of each yarn. With a slip knot tie 10 pieces of each color on each end of the scarf blending colors.
